Our most recent adventure was only about an hour away to a beautiful free camp spot at Colac Lake, Meredith Park Camp grounds.
"Bluey's" first trip away
Our latest weekend away in "Bluey" was only a short drive to the stunning views of Colac Lake. For this trip I made sure to load up the kayak, which paid off for a stunning evening sunset paddle. This was certainly a highlight to the trip!
Arriving midday, the free campsite offered plenty of sites available lake side and ample shade as the sun was out in full force. We set up camp within minutes. Awning out, kitchen tailgate up, a couple of chairs and we were ready for lunch.
By the late afternoon we had a peaceful sunset view and with the wife cozied up with a book, I decided it was a good time to get back out on the water. I had the entire lake to myself. There, I was floating alone in the middle of this massive lake as the sun was setting in the west. As it began to get dark on a cool clear sky night, all the stars were out and it was stunning. By now it felt like a good time to get the billy on for a cuppa.
I recommend this campsite
Overall I found it a nice open field section running along the lakes edge, with plenty of trees and spots to just pull up and picnic or camp. There is a boat ramp as well if that's your thing, and a series of fire pits on the lakes edge. Clean flushing toilets, picturesque sunsets and bird life.
Easy access & easy to park
Plenty of Lake side sites
Clean toilets
Great for boating or paddle
Free camp site with great views
